LGBT Family Law Representation
The national perspective on same-sex marriage continues to change as advocates and supporters have won significant, legislative victories in several states. In June 2015, The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution guarantees the right to marriage for all Americans, effectively legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide.
Attorney Michelle May O'Neil has been a staunch supporter of gay and lesbian rights since the beginning of her career and was the first attorney to win a case in a Texas appellate court granting standing to sue for a non-biological parent. Our entire time continues to exemplify that same dedication and advocacy for the gay and lesbian community, especially now that their marriage rights have finally been recognized nationwide.
In league with Attorney O'Neil, Attorney Karri Bertrand helps LGBTQ+ clients navigate family law cases. An experienced family lawyer and former paralegal, Karri understands the unique challenges LGBTQ+ individuals often face in the legal system. Karri's advocacy for equality in and out of the courtroom and legal acumen make her a powerful addition to any case.
Together, Karri and Michelle contribute to Gay & Lesbian Family Law in Texas, a publication dedicated to keeping LGBTQ+ individuals up-to-date on the latest LGBTQ+ news in family law. At O'Neil Wysocki P.C., it's our pleasure to represent LGBTQ+ individuals in family law cases.

Vigilant Counsel for Same-Sex Couples
Now that same-sex couples have been given full access to marriage rights and benefits, they also are confronted with many of the same issues they now share with the opposite-sex marriage community. Our team is ready to help this community harness these marriage rights and benefits and fully exercise them in any divorce or family law matter that they might face.
We are prepared to navigate to following same-sex couple matters:
Just because the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, that does not mean that every attorney is prepared to handle these cases. However, it is possible to retain an experienced and supportive counsel now. We serve clients throughout Texas!
