What Is Super Lawyers?

Super Lawyers rates lawyers from a wide variety of practice areas. The organization shines a spotlight on attorneys recognized by their peers, legal institutions, and communities for providing outstanding legal counsel and services.

What's the Selection Process Like?

Super Lawyers utilizes a multi-step process to nominate, research, evaluate, and select lawyers for its Rising Stars and Super Lawyers lists.

Nomination is the first step in the process. Lawyers cannot nominate themselves or campaign to receive a Super Lawyers nomination. Instead, lawyers are nominated by peers. Super Lawyers also surveys managing partner and looks at third party feedback to identify the best candidates.

After nominating lawyers, Super Lawyers conducts independent research. The organization examines nominees, considering factors including their standing with legal organizations like their Bar, community involvement, their position within the law firm, awards and honors they've received, special licenses or certifications they possess, their record in and out of the court with judges, juries, and clients, etc. Nominees receive a point value based on this process.

Super Lawyers then identifies which nominees hold the highest point value. Those individuals make up the Blue Ribbon Panel, who then examine nominees in their practice area. This is the final step before selection occurs.

Finally, Super Lawyers selects nominees for its Rising Stars and Super Lawyers lists. No more than 2.5% of attorneys nominated each year are listed as Rising Stars, and no more than 5% are listed as Super Lawyers. Rising Star nominations are reserved for younger attorneys, while Super Lawyers listings are reserved for more established attorneys.

We couldn't be prouder of Michael and Michelle for receiving their Super Lawyers nominations, including Michelle's listings on the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Texas and Top 100 Lawyers in DFW lists.
